I know the various Star Trek series have also a female audience, besides male. But some women who are not used to sci-fi are confused about the franchise. They don't realize Star Trek is a dramatization. It is not meant to be a realistic portrayal of life in space in the future, or of future history. Producers don't want to bore children with reality. (Though, I think that the reality of space is not boring.) Other sci-fi shows show more realism, such as The Expanse and the Alien franchise, maybe. Star Trek portrays a universe which is crowded with strange beings and is a hive of activity. I often write about space and the future in English and Tagalog, and my portrayals engender loneliness, sloth, and languidness. I have viewed Japanese anime shows, and they portray a much longer perspective of time than Western shows. Women should note that reality may be stranger than fiction.
